As the situation in Israel rapidly evolves, we’ve compiled a list of resources that may be helpful to those who are currently traveling in Israel. The Minneapolis Jewish Federation is here to assist the Minneapolis community anyway we can — please don’t hesitate to reach out if you’re looking for assistance or resources. info@jewishminneapolis.org

Information specific to Americans currently in Israel and wishing to leave:

  • The U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem is closed June 17.
  • The U.S. Embassy is not in a position at this time to evacuate or directly assist Americans in departing Israel.
  • Ben Gurion Airport remains closed, and there are no commercial or charter flights operating to or from there.
  • El Al flights are suspended until at least June 19. Flights to many European cities via El Al may also remain suspended until June 23.

Before traveling to the border crossing:

  • U.S. citizens should consult the Israel Home Front Command guidance. Download app: Apple | Google
  • Flights are available from Jordan on a limited basis. Please check with your airline and expect delays.

The best resource is the U.S. Embassy webpage.

Additional Safety and Travel Resources:

  • Israel Home Front Command App – The official app of the Home Front Command provides alerts, guidelines and life-saving information in real time according to your location and areas of interest of your choice. In the app, you can get important updates during an emergency and contact the Home Front Command. The app is available in Hebrew, Arabic, Russian and English. You can download it for free from your device’s app store. Download app: Apple| Google
  • Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP)– STEP is a free service to allow U.S. citizens/nationals traveling abroad to enroll with the local U.S. Embassy or Consulate. Learn more.

Many prayers to those in Israel, and please don’t hesitate to reach out to the Minneapolis Jewish Federation with any specific questions or requests. To provide support to organizations in Israel, please consider a gift to the Israel Emergency Fund.

The past few days have been extraordinarily difficult. Tragedies in our backyard and halfway across the globe have been widely reported and are at the forefront of our minds. Please consider a donation to have an immediate impact. 100 percent of the proceeds will go directly to Rehovot to a variety of organizations who will use it well, including JAFI’s Fund for Victims of Terror, United Hatzalah, JDC, and the Municipality itself. We know there will be long-term needs, and we will continue to address them.
