Dignity Grows

Imagine having to choose between buying food or buying sanitary products for your period. Menstrual hygiene necessities are often taxed, not covered by government benefits, and rarely available at food pantries. So imagine having just used your last menstrual necessities, with no money or way to get more.

In 2023 the Minneapolis Jewish Federation started a local chapter of the Dignity Grows national initiative to help address period poverty in our communities.

As women, this is a cause close to our hearts. Through volunteer-driven “Packing Parties”, we assemble reusable totes, filled with a full-month’s supply of hygiene products and period necessities, and our distribution partner, Prism Food Bank, helps us get these free totes into the hands of the women who need them.
