Get Involved

Women’s Philanthropy

Women have been at the heart of the Minneapolis Jewish Federation since the very beginning — and we’re proud to carry that legacy forward. We’re a group of volunteers who understand how vital strong Jewish communities are—and we step up to help keep them thriving. Guided by the values of tzedakah and tikkun olam, we show up. We volunteer, we give, and we build meaningful connections across generations. And we welcome you to join us!

There are many ways to get involved.

  • ATTEND AN EVENT. Connect through engaging programs featuring inspiring speakers, meaningful service projects, and opportunities to network—both in-person and virtually.
  • JOIN A COMMITTEE. Help shape what we do by getting involved in event planning, fundraising, or organizing volunteer efforts.
  • VOLUNTEER. Take part in hands-on tzedakah projects that make a real impact in our community.

PEARL SOCIETY (Women giving $365+)

With a household gift of $365—or a dollar a day—to MJF’s annual Community Campaign, Pearl Society members are a group of inspiring Jewish women who want to see our community thrive. Pearl Society members are invited to the denim and pearl annual Women of Intention Award ceremony and proudly wear the signature Minneapolis Pearl Society necklace, designed by Goldfine Jewelry. Please contact Jen Bucklew at jbucklew@jewishminneapolis.org to learn more.

WOMEN OF INTENTION

The Pearl Society’s Women of Intention awards honor six women in our community each year: our Trailblazer, World-Saver, Flame-Keeper, Woman of Promise, Voice of Inspiration, and Community Champion.

These are women in our Jewish community who respond to injustice with intention—who apply their personal grit and gifts to some of the most difficult issues facing our community and the world.

LION OF JUDAH (Women giving $5000+)

Lions of Judah are some of the most dynamic philanthropic women in the world. Created in 1972 in Miami by Norma Kipnis-Wilson and Toby Friedland z”l, the Lion of Judah program has brought together women of all ages and from many walks of life to play an essential role in creating social justice, healing the sick, feeding the hungry, preserving human dignity, and building Jewish identity.

The Lion of Judah is a symbol of a Jewish woman’s strength, a symbol of her caring about the organized Jewish world, and a symbol of her financial commitment of at least $5,000 to MJF’s annual Community Campaign. Nearly 18,000 women worldwide are Lions of Judah, with hundreds right here in Minneapolis.

MOMENTUM

Momentum is a global movement focused on the greatest influencer—the Jewish mother.

Around the world, Jewish moms are joining Momentum to connect more deeply to their Jewish values through events, trips to Israel, and the Momentum Year-Long Journey program. Here in Minneapolis, Momentum moms are soaking up Jewish wisdom, making lasting friendships, and laying a foundation to create enduring change in the community.
