Eating kosher in Minneapolis now involves bacon

We feel you…there are some great kosher options in theFullSizeRender Twin Cities, but the choices are slim. There’s one new option you may not have considered, though—and it’s Jon Stewart approved.

The Herbivorous Butcher opened earlier this year, catching the attention of local restaurants, national news, and even astronauts.  Why all of the attention? Well, not only is it delicious, it’s completely and totally vegan.

That means meatless deli meat. Meatless ribs. Meatless brats. And kosher bacon.

TC Jewfolk was on the scene as soon as the Herbivorous Butcher announced their kosher status. We’d been dying to try it ever since, so knew we had to make a stop during our 100 days of celebrating Jewish Ham Brie Quince sandwichMinneapolis. We took a quick 15 minute drive from the Western suburbs to the beautiful space in Northeast Minneapolis to try a completely vegan ham and brie sandwich and brat with sriracha mayo.

It. was. awesome.

If you’re looking for something different for your kosher event, Shabbat dinner, or other special event, you’ve got to check out the Herbivorous butcher. Just promise us you’ll take a picture of Bubbe’s face when you offer her a kosher cheeseburger.
