Jewishminneapolis.org collects personally-identifying information (such as your name, e-mail address, mailing address, telephone number and/or credit card information) only if you choose to provide us with that information.

Like all other web servers, our server automatically creates log files for everyone who visits our site. These access logs allow us to make our site more useful to our visitors. The access logs do NOT record visitors’ name, address, phone number, credit card numbers, or any other personally-identifying information. They do contain information such as:

  • The Internet Protocol Address (IP Address) of the machine which accessed our website
  • The date of the visit
  • The time of the visit
  • The path taken through our website
  • The browser being used
  • A list of files downloaded or viewed
  • Any errors encountered

Our website uses various technical methods and tools to collect, store and track information, including the number of people who visit our site and how they utilize our website. The tools we use may personally identify individuals by their name, e-mail address or any other personal attribute.

Cookies

Like many organizations, we may use cookies on our website. Cookies are pieces of information shared between your web browser and a website.  Use of cookies enables a faster and easier experience for the user.

There are different kinds of cookies with different functions:

(i)         Session cookies: these are only stored on your computer during your web session. They are automatically deleted when the browser is closed.  They usually store an anonymous session ID allowing you to browse a website without having to log in to each page. They do not collect any information from your computer.
(ii)        Persistent cookies: a persistent cookie is one stored as a file on your computer, and it remains there when you close your web browser. The cookie can be read by the website that created it when you visit that website again.
(iii)       First-party cookies: the function of this type of cookie is to retain your preferences for a particular website for the entity that owns that website. They are stored and sent between MJF servers and your computer’s hard drive. They are not used for anything other than for personalization as set by you. These cookies may be either Session or Persistent cookies.
(iv)       Third-party cookies: the function of this type of cookie is to retain your interaction with a particular website for an entity that does not own that website. They are stored and sent between the Third-party’s server and your computer’s hard drive. These cookies are usually Persistent cookies.

For example, this website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics product provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”).  Google Analytics uses cookies and/or anonymous identifiers to help MJF analyze how users use the site and others operated by MJF (e.g. jewishtwincities.org) and market to users through the data obtained. Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website, compiling reports on website activity, and providing other products relating to website activity and internet usage for MJF.   Google may also transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Google’s behalf. We also use or permit other cookies, including those integrating with social media (e.g. Facebook and Twitter) on our site.

You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser, however please note that if you do this you may not be able to use the full functionality of this website.  By using this website, you consent to the processing of data about you by Google in the manner and for the purposes set out above. You can opt out of Google Analytics without affecting how you visit our site – for more information on opting out of being tracked by Google Analytics across all websites you use, visit this Google page https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout/.

MJF may run what are known as remarketing advertisements targeting users who have previously visited this web site or another site operated by us.  This practice is consistent with allowed remarketing from Google (typically using AdWords) and other providers of online remarketing and retargeting services.

Do Not Track (“DNT”).  Minneapolis Jewish Federation assumes no responsibility for responding to “Do Not Track” web browser signals.

DONOR PRIVACY POLICY

Minneapolis Jewish Federation recognizes the trust donors place in us and the related responsibility we have regarding privacy. This Donor Privacy Policy applies to all personal information, obtained from financial and in-kind donors both online and offline.

1. Commitment to Non-Disclosure of Donor Personal Information

When you make a financial or in-kind donation, you provide your name and contact information to us. Financial donors also provide standard payment information, including, in many circumstances, credit card data. Minneapolis Jewish Federation (MJF) does not share, sell or trade a donor’s personal information with another entity nor does it send donor mailings on behalf of other organizations. Donors have the ability to designate their donation as anonymous at the time of donation or at any time thereafter. Donors may opt out of any publication by calling 952.593.2600 or emailing: webmaster@mplsfed.org.

2. Collection, Retention, and Use of Information

MJF collects public and non-public personal information about donors from various sources, both online and offline. For example, if you sign up for an MJF-sponsored event, we will add that information to your donor profile. MJF only collects information we believe is reasonably useful in administering our business and to provide programs, services, information about the Jewish community and other opportunities or information we believe would be of interest to donors. MJF has vendors that assist with administrative functions, such as the processing and managing of donations and donor data. On occasion, we give these vendors access to donor data, and they are bound by strict confidentiality rules. MJF also uses or discloses donor information if it believes that such action is necessary to comply with the law or with the legal process.

3. Transparency and Opting Out

You may find out what personal information MJF maintains in your donor profile or opt-out of receiving donor-related communications from MJF at any time. Call 312-346-6700 or email webmaster@mplsfed.org: (a) correct or update any personal information that might be erroneous; (b) opt-out of future donor-related communications from MJF.

MJF reserves the right to request reasonable information to authenticate any request. Once authenticated, MJF will promptly update its records.

4. Employee Access to Information and Enforcement

MJF employees are educated about the importance of confidentiality and donor privacy and trained to understand and follow the MJF Privacy Policy. Employees that violate the Privacy Policy are subject to disciplinary measures (warnings, reprimands, suspensions) and possible termination of employment.
5. Security

MJF has in place what we believe to be appropriate physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online and offline. We use industry standard safeguards to protect your information. Many donors use credit cards for donations. We protect the security of credit card transactions using a number of measures such as encryption, access controls, network firewalls and physical security. These measures make it difficult for anyone to intercept the credit card information you send to us. When we work with other companies to process credit card transactions, those companies also use encryption and other security measures.

6. Website Privacy
The MJF website privacy policy (available at jewishminneapolis.org/privacy-policy/) applies to all online activities on MJF websites. Therefore, the website privacy policy will also apply to donor information: a) to the extent any donations are obtained online; and b) once you have donated and established a donor profile, to certain online activities on our websites that identify you to us (e.g. registering online for a program).

If you have any questions or comments concerning this Donor Privacy Policy, please contact us at webmaster@mplsfed.org or send a letter to:
