I got a college education and a brighter future
Mishel Mamman, 28, was born and raised in Kiryat Shmona, a town located on Israel's northern border. His father, a heroic firefighter, was killed in a tragic accident when Mishel was in third grade, leaving his mother to raise nine children alone.
Although money was tight, Mishel dreamed of becoming a mechanical engineer. He worked hard in school and was accepted to college, but did not know how he would afford the tuition. With the help of the Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI), a partner agency of the Minneapolis Jewish Federation, Mishel received a full scholarship and was on his way to achieving his dream.
"To have people believe in me and give me so much has motivated me to give back to society and to succeed," said Mishel.
Dollars raised through the Minneapolis Jewish Federation support Jews living in Israel and overseas, providing financial assistance, care for the elderly, hunger relief, medicine, home health care and so much more. You can start making a difference today for people like Mishel. Donate Now.
